When should I start fertility acupuncture treatments?
Acupuncture combined with IVF treatments are becoming more and more popular since there is a lot of evidence supporting that they are a great combo against fertility difficulties.
A German study that was published in the Fertility & Sterility reproductive journal concluded that acupuncture and traditional IVF protocols substantially increases pregnancy rates.
Another study published in the journal of Medical Acupuncture suggested that acupuncture may impact the number of egg follicles available for fertilization in women undergoing IVF.
So the question is, when is the best time to start fertility acupuncture treatments?
After treating couples with subfertility for the last 10 yrs, we have concluded that a 3 phase approach is best for optimal pregnancy & healthy live births.
- Phase 1:(pre IVF therapy): Our goal in this phase is to:
a)improve uterine lining for better implantation and reduce the risk of miscarriage
b)support follicle & egg quality
c)regulate reproductive hormones
d)reduce stress levels
The above phase is to take place at least 1 month prior to IVF treatment.
- Phase 2: Our goal in this phase is to: Reduce stress & anxiety levels especially during the 2 week wait period after embryo transfer.
- Phase 3:In this phase patient use acupuncture as needed to deal with
-nausea and morning sickness
